There have been some changes this year at Monterey.  Steve Earle has stepped away and SCRAMP has taken over the event.  The name is now the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.  They have promised to provide an event equal or better than before.  Per Mazda Laguna Seca, “This is where automotive history comes alive with such marques as the remarkable pre-war Bugattis, Alfa Romeos, Talbot-Lagos and Morgans to the more powerful Ferraris, Corvettes, Cobras and Porsches racing through the corners and down the famed corkscrew.  Sublime green and red, white and blue American V8s will be joining the Ferrari GTOs, Bugatti Type 35s and Lotus 77s in the paddock for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. There will be 44 Trans-Am race cars from 1966-1972, including two of the three 1970 Plymouth Barracudas that All American Racers built for the 1970 Trans-Am season.  The Trans-Am Series is an automobile racing series which was created in 1966 by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). The series was derived from the SCCA's A & B Sedan amateur club racing classes, based upon commercially produced cars which had been modified for racing competition. The series was best known for competition among American V8 sedans such as the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, Plymouth Barracuda, Mercury Cougar, AMC Javelin, Pontiac Firebird and Dodge Challenger.  The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is honoring one of the true legends of motorsports- Dan Gurney, the Cars he raced and the Cars he built, such as the famous Eagle race cars. Among the 19 race groups will be a dedicated grid of 40 Bugatti race cars in the Bugatti Grand Prix, and featured races for Stock Cars with drum brakes, and Formula 1 race cars that competed between 1966 and 1983."

One change that has been made is that the Club car corrals will not move around, but will stay in the same area for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  We have not had the opportunity to gather on Friday in the past and we’ll see how that goes.  Now we will not have the confusion that always happened on Sunday as to where the heck is the corral?  Also SCRAMP is now charging for the corral passes, but with a discount if an advanced ticket is purchased thru the Club.  So……….

Nor Cal has a limited number of tickets and Club corral parking passes for members purchasing their entry ticket through the club. Admission price to attend the races at Laguna Seca on Saturday, August 14, will be $65.00 per person. Members wishing to attend the races on Friday, August 13 or Sunday, August 17 can buy their tickets at the gate (a really bad idea) or if you hurry contact Laguna directly and pay the advanced pricing. (1-800-327-SECA or www.mazdaraceway.com)

The corral pass is mailed out with your Saturday admission ticket, if you plan on attending Friday and/or Sunday and parking in the Club parking corral let me know so I have a count and can be ready. See the form below.

Cars must be in popular car show condition, be of a performance nature and have a Blue Oval lineage (that means FORD in case some GM guy is reading this). The corral is located on the leftover asphalt and hard pack that makes up the no longer used and very much missed Turn 3, but now is a great viewing area named 'The Andretti Hairpin'. Send in your ticket order and payment ASAP, and make sure your phone number and correct mailing address is enclosed. Also, we'll need to know which car you'll be gracing us with. Space is limited - first come first served.

If you plan to attend on Friday and/or Sunday and wish to park your show car in the Club corral, please be sure to make a note of that with your entry. (Again – Friday and Sunday tickets must be purchased separately through Laguna Seca).
