Monterey Historics Website

Updated July 19

This year is very special for us with the Cobra as Marque.  We have just over 255 cars signed up for the Corral so far.  That includes 138 Cobras of which 20 are originals and 18 are Daytona Coupes.  At this rate I will have to cut off the Corral (limit 300) and Parade Lap entrants (limit 150)!

This is going to one heck of a show!  The track crowded with Snakes and the Corral bursting at the seams!  Don’t miss out!  I will be closing ticket sales soon (next week probably) because of the time I need to get them out.  Once the 300 passes are sold that’s it.  Tickets will still be available to purchase through Mazda Laguna Seca in advance (smart) and at the gate (not so smart/more expensive).

Updated May 5

It’s official, the Shelby Cobra is the featured car (as announced in August) and Nor Cal SAAC is coordinating the Corral for the 2012 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion August 17, 18 & 19th. We are really excited and honored and this is shaping up to be an outstanding event. The latest I have heard is that 50 original Cobras have been signed up for the race. There will be a showcase in the paddock of very historic and significant cars, in addition to the Corral. Everyone involved is on a mission to make this the best show ever at the Reunion.

I have been in communication with Lynn Park, Peter Brock, Don Lee, SCRAMP at Mazda Laguna Seca and a few others. Everyone is looking forward to making this event the best ever. Already 50 applicants in the Cobra race, Parade laps on Saturday, displays of the most significant Cobras, Reps and displays from Shelby American and Ford and I’m sure more surprises to come. In case you have not seen the Mazda Laguna Seca flyer that went out, Saturday at 5:00 the “Cobra Tour de Force” (open to all CSX 2000 & 3000 series race and street cars) will swarm (or what even Snakes do) in the pits for a show and tell session. I’m still pushing for Sunday Parade laps. Stay tune I’m sure there will be more surprises to come.

I do not foresee any problems with space, SCRAMP is working with us to open up more parking area as needed. The Corral will be open to all Shelby American products including replicas, as well as Ford products of the performance variety (Ford will have a display near the Corral and is supporting the mission also). Original Cobras will be displayed front and center, of course, with space for other original Shelby American products, continuations and replicas. We will not forget and will have room for other high performance and/or significant Ford products just as we have had in regular Corral years.  Please remember we are representing Carroll Shelby and Ford, that cars should be in popular car show condition, and have a Blue Oval lineage. We are anticipating 300+; ticket sales/Corral pass sales. Laguna is looking into areas to store trailers for Corral participants.

Sales of tickets and Corral passes will be through the Nor Cal SAAC website.  Mazda Laguna Seca will be having their website direct people to out website if they want Corral passes. Sales are open finally.    This year you will have the opportunity to purchase 1, 2 or 3 day tickets and as usual the Corral pass is for all 3 days. Your admission ticket grants access to the racing and the paddock. This year we have a form you fill in with important information regarding your vehicle to put on your dash or in the window. Having the Corral sales through our Club will allow us to better coordinate and plan the event

As mentioned above, details are constantly being added and posted on this website regularly. If you have not done so already, please go ahead and make your travel plans now, since the Monterey area is very busy during the week of the Reunion with a plethora of auto related activities. All the auctions, Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Concorso Italiano and many more see http://www.montereycarweek.com for complete information.
I mentioned earlier that space in the Corral would not be a problem, but order early for two reasons; first, it helps our planning, and second, we could be sooo overwhelmed with participants that the Track can not find enough room. This is going to be way more fun than should be legal and what a chance to show up those other guys with lesser Marques..!
